Arc extinction characteristics in power supply frequencies from 50 Hz to 1 MHz

چکیده
It is well-known that arcing phenomena at the break of contacts affect seriously the reliability and lifetime of contacts. Therefore, many papers have reported arc duration, arc extinction current and other characteristics. Recently, in mobile communication application an electro-mechanical switch is said to be superior to a semiconductor switch in insertion loss and isolation, and a RF (radio frequency) MEMS relay has been intensively developed. Based on the above background it is one of important research topics how the frequency of interrupted current affects the characteristics of breaking arc. However, there are few papers on that topic. In this paper the effect of frequency on arc characteristics is investigated in range of the frequency of interrupted current from 50 Hz to 1 MHz. Consequently the followings can be made clear. At the interruption of peak current 2 A arc extinguishes in terms of arc characteristics and circuit conditions up to the frequency of 200 Hz. Above 200 Hz the arc extinguishes at current zero. The current zero extinction takes place up to 500 kHz. Therefore, arc duration decreases with high frequencies and the contact damage caused by arc is reduced with frequency. However, at frequencies higher than 600 kHz an arc is re-ignited after the current zero and failed to extinguish.

A calibration system for electric power at frequencies up to 1 MHz
Electrical power measurements are a central part of society today. Traditional power measurements have been focused on the power delivered by the 50 Hz or 60 Hz electrical grid with up to about 50 harmonics. This means that the bandwidth of such a power meter only needs to be a few kHz. Most modern electrical devices and machines are powered by batteries, or by the grid via DC converters. Ironi...
متن کاملDesigning and Implementation of Algorithms on MATLAB for Adaptive Noise Cancellation from ECG Signal
The medical monitoring devices are more sensitive for the biomedical signal recording and need more accurate results for every diagnosis. The low frequency signal is destroyed by power line interference of 50 Hz noise, this noise is also source of interference for biomedical signal recording. The frequency of power line interference 50 Hz is nearly equal to the frequency of ECG, so this 50 Hz n...
متن کاملGenetic Effects of Nonionizing Electromagnetic Fields
Nonionizing electromagnetic fields (EMF) have photon energy less than 10eV, a level not sufficient to produce ions by ejection of orbital electrons from atoms. The biological effects of two types of nonionizing electromagnetic fields are being studies intensely: extremely-lowfrequency (ELF) electromagnetic field and radiofrequency radiation. Extremely-low-frequency EMF covers the frequency rang...

This paper describes a low-noise, 900-MHz, voltagecontrolled oscillator (VCO) fabricated in a 0.6m CMOS technology. The VCO consists of four-stage fully differential delay cells performing full switching. It utilizes dual-delay path techniques to achieve high oscillation frequency and obtain a wide tuning range. The VCO operates at 750 MHz to 1.2 GHz, and the tuning range is as large as 50%. Th...

A 65-GHz Class-C LC oscillator designed in 65nm CMOS technology by ST Microelectronics is presented. A three spiral transformer has been used to achieve low phase noise and low power consumption. Post-layout simulations show a phase noise is equal to -88.4 dBc/Hz at 1-MHz offset from the carrier (65.8 GHz). The power consumption is 14 mW with 1.2-V supply voltage. The oscillator is capable to o...
